Quick Chat with Narain during Indian GP
Motor Racing India caught up our Indian F1 driver Narain Karathikeyan at his HRT Team Hospitality Center for few minutes during his busy media scheulde. Here is what he had to say.
How do you feel to be racing in your home GP?
NK: It feels great to be in India in front of the home crowd and its always a very special occasion, for me and my team with lots of media attention. Yeah, Its an incredible feeling.
How is the crowd support for your home GP?
NK: Its great. We had around 200–300 fans outside the pits supporting and waving at me in the afternoon.
What would be to dream position to finish in your homeGP if you had a good car and ofcourse everyone wants to win?
NK: Well everyone wants to drive in the best team but participating in Formula 1 is itself a big thing for me at the moment. We know our situation and we hope to do our best.
Is it disheartening to perform with positions at your home GP?
NK: It is disheartening, we all want to perform better but at the moment with the car we have this is the maximum possible and this is the situation. But its great to be racing in F1 with such a team. We work hard with whatever resources we have.
How much money you need to have a winning car?
NK: [Laughs] Well we need a lot of money actually. We need 8times more than what we have currently. The budget of the winning teams are 8times more than what we operate with.
(Estimated HRT spending 25million Euros and estimated budget of top teams Red Bull & McLaren 280million Euros)
Is there any new plans for next a better car or team next?
NK: Nothing as of now and I dont want to talk about it right now.
Is there a low turnout in ticket sales this year compared to last year?
NK: Well thats what they say the ticket sales are lower than last year and i hope it fill up on Race Day.
